Our claim: we use energy and mobility efficiently, work to reduce our carbon emissions and support the use and expansion of renewable energy technologies.
— Renewable energies in agriculture and processes
— Energy efficiency measures and CO2 reduction
— Investments are also evaluated in terms of lifetime energy costs
— Efficient truck driving (eco-drive)
— Maintaining the rail transportation quota and our own rail infrastructure
— Optimising transport through route planning and ecological standards for vehicles
Why energy and climate are important
By now, the effects of greenhouse gas emissions on our climate are well known. Long-term climate change (warming, glaciers melting, water supply, changes to the suitability of farmland for specific crops, etc.) as well as short-term weather events (high temperatures, regional water shortages, extreme weather events, etc.) have a direct influence on all areas of agriculture.
We measure our sustainability performance with 14 goals. The goals in the area of energy and climate can be found here.
